The Israeli military applies different standards to Jews and Palestinians who throw stones in the West Bank, a senior IDF general has admitted, stressing that opening fire on Jews would have "profound social consequences."
In a closed forum, Major General Avi Bluth, head of the IDF command for the West Bank, also advocated easing the rules on opening fire on Palestinians, especially those trying to cross into Israel.
According to him, most of the people killed were armed, claiming that the percentage of civilians is lower compared to other areas.
"Arabs understand that if someone comes to kill you, you have to kill them first," he said, adding that "we are killing like we haven't since 1967," despite the high number of Palestinian casualties in previous periods.
