The United Arab Emirates states that it reserves the "full and legitimate right" to respond to Iranian attacks.
In an official response, the UAE Foreign Ministry stressed that the missile and drone attacks from Iran constitute a serious escalation and a direct threat to the country's security. According to authorities, air defenses have intercepted several missiles and drones over Emirati territory, while explosions associated with their neutralization were heard in some areas.
Meanwhile, the situation has also affected civilian life and air traffic. Flights to Dubai and Sharjah have been suspended or diverted, while a fire on a cargo ship has also been reported near Dubai, the cause of which remains unclear.
The Emirates' statement comes after Iran had previously claimed that it had no plans to strike their territory, adding to the contradictions between the parties.
Tensions in the region are spreading further. In Oman, a residential building in the north of the country was hit, leaving two foreign nationals lightly injured, according to the state news agency.
