United States President Donald Trump has declared that Washington will help escort ships blocked in the Strait of Hormuz, starting today.
In a post on social media, Trump announced that the US has informed several countries that it will guarantee the safe passage of their ships through this restricted maritime corridor, although he did not specify which countries will benefit from this support.
He warned that any interference in this process, which he called "Project Freedom," will be met with a strong response.
"For the good of Iran, the Middle East, and the United States, we have told these countries that we will guide their ships safely," he wrote.
In his statement, Trump also emphasized that US representatives are holding "very positive" talks with Iran, which he said could lead to favorable results for all parties.
