Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with his American counterpart, Donald Trump, focusing on the recently announced ceasefire with Iran and the latest developments in the region, Anadolu reports.
According to a statement from the Turkish Communications Directorate, published on the NSosyal platform, the two leaders analyzed the current situation, with particular emphasis on the ceasefire announced the day before.
During the conversation, Erdogan expressed satisfaction with the ceasefire, assessing that the two-week period, after a difficult 40-day phase, creates an important opportunity to advance towards a lasting peace agreement.
He also stressed that this period must be used effectively and warned against any action that could undermine the process.
The Turkish president further underlined that Turkey will continue to increase support for diplomatic efforts, in cooperation with friendly and brotherly countries, especially Pakistan, to reach a solution.
A day earlier, Trump announced the achievement of a two-week ceasefire with Iran, saying that Tehran had presented a 'workable' 10-point proposal for negotiations.
Meanwhile, Iran's Supreme National Security Council announced that this proposal, submitted through Pakistani mediation, includes a commitment to stop US attacks, continuing Iranian control over the Strait of Hormuz, accepting uranium enrichment, and lifting all primary and secondary sanctions.
The proposal also calls for the payment of compensation to Iran, the withdrawal of US combat forces from the region, and the end of the war on all fronts, including that against Hezbollah in Lebanon.
