Palestinians have begun returning to northern Gaza, after Israel declared a ceasefire had come into effect. The Israel Defense Forces announced they had withdrawn to agreed lines, according to the plan proposed by US President Donald Trump, but warned that they would continue to neutralize any immediate threat.
Hamas has until 12:00 local time on Monday to release all Israeli hostages, while Israel is expected to release hundreds of Palestinian detainees.
This development comes after the Israeli government approved the first phase of Trump's ceasefire and hostage exchange deal.
Under the agreement, aid trucks are expected to enter Gaza to support its two million residents, most of whom have been displaced during the conflict.
