Italy will take to the field this Monday night against Turkey, in the Nations League match to be held at the “Dall'Ara” stadium in Bologna. A victory against the team managed by Vincenzo Montella would be important for the “Azzurri”, not only for the group standings, but also for their positioning in the EURO 2028 draw, should they secure qualification.
After a 2-0 loss to Belgium in the first match of this period, Italy responded by defeating Turkey 4-1 in Bursa, while then drawing 1-1 with France in Paris.
Italy currently sit third in Group A1 of the Nations League, with four points. France lead the way with seven points, followed by Belgium with six, while Turkey close out the group with no points.
Monday's match, which kicks off at 8:45 PM, is Italy's last in this period of the Nations League and a victory would mathematically guarantee the "Azzurri" a place at least in third place in the group.
This position would also be important for Italy's future in the framework of EURO 2028. The national teams that finish in first, second and third place in the four groups of League A will make up the 12 favored teams in the European Championship draw.
With a victory over Turkey, Italy would also avoid the risk of finishing in last place and relegation to League B, while strengthening their position to be among the favored teams in the EURO 2028 draw, a tournament that will have 24 national teams in the final phase.
