The student protest is taking on wider dimensions this Wednesday. In Tirana, students have boycotted classes at the Polytechnic University, the Faculty of Medicine, the Faculty of Economics and the Faculty of Natural Sciences. The auditoriums have been emptied, while the young people have chosen to continue the revolt started the day before against the government.
The boycott is not limited to the capital. Student protests have also been recorded in Durrës, indicating that the mobilization is spreading beyond Tirana.
The students have organized mainly through social media, without declared leaders and without the organizational support of political parties. They oppose the conditions of education, the lack of perspective, and politics that, according to them, have failed to offer them a future in Albania.
Another protest in front of the Ministry of Education has been announced for 2:00 PM. While the boycott is involving some of the main faculties, it remains to be seen how widespread participation will be throughout the day.
