A large-scale fire engulfed the Priska e Madhe area, in the village of Daias, Tirana, this afternoon.
Favored by strong winds, the fire has spread rapidly, while smoke has covered the entire area. The fires are reactivated from time to time, making the work of firefighters on the ground more difficult.
An Air Force helicopter has also been deployed to the operation, dropping water near the homes to prevent the flames from spreading. So far, no problems have been reported for the homes, as the area involved is mainly covered in dense vegetation and bushes.
The situation has also worsened in the village of Abazë in Kruja, where the municipality has ordered the evacuation of residents due to the risk that the flames, aided by the wind, will approach homes. Dozens of firefighters and helicopters are working at the scene.
Meanwhile, the fire has been continuing for days in Lura i Dibra, where large areas have been burned. Over 20 civil emergency personnel, together with residents, are working to extinguish the flames and protect residential areas.
As of 5:00 PM, 10 active fire outbreaks have been reported in the districts of Tirana, Fier, Durrës, Gjirokastër, Dibër and Korçë.
