The Prosecution, in cooperation with the Police Supervision Agency, is investigating the leadership chain of the Korça Police, following the murder of the Shqiponja force officer, Enea Mekolli, and the injury of his colleague, Edison Adri, during the operation to arrest the wanted man Violand Bracellari. According to the Prosecution, it is being investigated whether there was an operational plan to capture the wanted man and whether all security elements were carefully analyzed before the officers were sent into action.
In this context, a series of forensic tests are being conducted, from the weapons the police officers were equipped with in action, to the bulletproof vests they were wearing, and the method of intervention is being carefully analyzed.
The police have officially stated that 10 police officers participated in the action and that there was an operational plan for the intervention.
Enea Mekolli was shot dead by Violand Bracellari, as forces approached his camp, on Mount Bode, in Maliq, to handcuff him.
Edison Adri was also injured. Bracellari was sentenced to 10 years in prison for drug trafficking and was wanted. He posed a high social risk and was living on the run in the deep mountainous area, where he had also built a stable with AZHBR funds, which is also being investigated by the Prosecutor's Office.
There are suspicions that he had connections with segments of the Police, which helped him live on the run, but so far investigations in this regard have not yielded results.
