Shkodra Police have confirmed that the three people who lost their lives in the fire that engulfed a house in the village of Domen, Postriba, are a mother and her two minor children, aged 1 and 3.
According to authorities, the mother and two children had recently returned from Germany. They had gone to an old, uninhabitable apartment, which, for reasons still under investigation, caught fire.
The apartment is located in a deep mountainous area, about 30 minutes' walk from a road where vehicles can circulate, which has made it difficult for emergency services to intervene.
Firefighters arrived at the scene, but the apartment was almost completely destroyed. According to preliminary data, the difficult terrain and the late notification made it impossible to intervene in time to rescue the victims.
The police and the investigation team continue to work to uncover the full causes and circumstances of this tragic event.
