The Albanian national football team will face a historic challenge in March, which, in addition to sporting prestige, also carries a considerable financial weight.
The FIFA Council, meeting in Doha, Qatar on the occasion of the Intercontinental Cup final, has approved a record payment of 10 million euros for each national team that secures participation in the 2026 World Cup.
This is the highest figure ever awarded to representative teams in such a competition, while the rewards for each stage passed in the tournament have also increased, reaching up to an additional 50 million euros for the national team that is declared World Champion.
The Reds will play for a ticket to the 2026 World Cup, with the objective of first overcoming Poland and then the winner of the Ukraine-Sweden match, in an attempt to secure participation in the most important tournament for national teams on a global scale for the first time.
In parallel with the historical importance of this potential qualification, Albania would also have a considerable financial reward at stake.
