A bus carrying Albanian students has been denied entry at the Bllata border crossing in Debar, on the border with North Macedonia. Macedonian authorities have not yet given an official reason for the decision.
The event comes at a time when Albanian students in North Macedonia are preparing for the next protest, with the main demand being the right to conduct exams in the Albanian language.
According to the organizers, the students have been coordinated in cities such as Kumanovo, Tetovo, Struga and Skopje, while their request stems from law students who have been asking for two years to take exams in their native language, without finding a solution.
They emphasize that this right is guaranteed by the Constitution and the Ohrid Agreement, but according to them it has not been fully implemented. The first protest was held on April 6 in Skopje, in front of the Ministry of Justice, while the students continue to demand an institutional response.
Their action is also being seen as a broader political issue over the representation of Albanians in North Macedonia, at a time when Albanian representatives from the WLEN coalition are also part of the government.
