The first segment of the Tirana-Durres highway to the Rinas overpass is entering a new infrastructure tradition: a new deadline every month. Initially, it was said that the works would be completed in December. Then the calendar was corrected to January. Now the government has set a third date: the first week of May.
So, in addition to asphalt and concrete, the project seems to have also produced a series of deadlines that extend with admirable flexibility.
During a field inspection this Thursday, the Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Enea Karakaçi, assured that the works are in the final phase and that the segment will open within the first week of May.
"Within the first week of May, this part of this segment will be fully opened. This axis is important for connecting the port of Durres with Morina and for connecting the North with the entrance to Tirana, but also for tourism. We must emphasize that in this segment we are working with several other projects such as the Tirana Bypass and the Kashar-Lekaj segment," said Karakaçi.
The segment is considered important for traffic in and out of Tirana, for the connection to the port of Durrës and for traffic towards the north of the country. For citizens, however, the main importance is no longer the next date that is announced, but the moment when one of these dates will finally decide to match reality.
