Renowned writer and academic Rexhep Qosja has passed away. The news was announced by his family in a statement, which states that he was buried today, April 23, 2026.
According to family members, the funeral ceremony was held in the presence of close family members, in accordance with the deceased's own wishes.
The announcement also notes that no family reception ceremony will be organized and that family members will not participate in institutional events.
"We ask that our privacy be respected and that we be allowed to mourn in peace," the family's response reads.
Rexhep Qosja was one of the most important figures in literature, critical thought, and Albanological studies in the Albanian space. He was known for his extensive work in literature, literary criticism, and journalism, as well as for his engagement in intellectual and political debates over the years.
