The Journalists Association of Albania has joined the global initiative to remember the journalists killed in Gaza and demand their protection. Through a statement, they call on the Albanian government to take a clear stance in the face of genocide and to raise their voice for press freedom. Today, September 1, journalists from around the world convey the common message: “You are not alone.”

Since the start of the war, around 200 journalists have been killed in Gaza, leaving behind families who lost sons and daughters, children who lost parents, journalists who lost colleagues, and sad newsrooms with truncated news.
The state of Israel does not allow any international media to report the truth from Gaza. So the burden of news from that war zone has fallen on Palestinian journalists who have been shot and killed with their cameras or phones still in their hands, reporting in real time to every corner of the globe.
Today, September 1, media and journalists from around the world come together to say: “You are not alone.” Albania is also part of this initiative, urging the government to take a clear stance on genocide and to raise its voice for the protection of journalists.
Let us recall the farewell letter of the young Al Jazeera journalist, Anas al-Sharif, killed in early August by an Israeli airstrike. He wrote: “Don’t forget Gaza.”
Today, with our voices united, we say:
Gaza is not forgotten. Journalists are not forgotten. The truth is not silenced.
