With admirable endurance and a rare passion for sports, 64-year-old Ferdinand Varfi has completed his next personal challenge: walking the distance from Tepelena to Fier, in just 8 hours. This is not his first activity, but part of a long tradition that he started at the age of five, cultivating walking and running as a way of life. Although he has not participated in official competitions, Varfi shows that he would not miss trophies and records if he were to compete at the national level.
Known as the "lifelong marathoner," he explains that the main motive for these challenges is love and the desire to show his wife that he continues to be fit and full of energy, despite his age. Varfi walks alone, without a companion, often on mountain trails, breaking personal records each time.
After completing this marathon, the 64-year-old says that his next challenge is international: he dreams of running a personal marathon in Dubai, a step that would make him known outside of Albania.
