The United States Department of the Treasury has decided to lift sanctions on former Republika Srpska President Milorad Dodik and several individuals from Republika Srpska.
Sanctions were lifted against Milorad Dodik, Željka Cvijanović, Radovan Višković, Nenad Stevandić, Siniša Karan, Petar Đokić, Staša Kosharac, Srebrenka Golić, Žerard Selman, Rajko Kuz, as well as other senior RS officials.
Also removed were members of the Dodik family, Igor and Gorica, as well as several businessmen connected to Dodik's family and political circle: Đorđe Đurić, Vlatko Vukotic, Aleksandar Dobrić, Mirko Dobrić, Milenko Ćićić, Marko Gujanićić and Dalibor Panić.
According to Serbian media, the lifting of sanctions comes as a result of an agreement between the US and Dodik that, after the final decision, Dodik should step down as president of RS and appoint an interim president.
After Ana Trišić-Babić was elected and that part of the agreement was fulfilled, the US has begun gradually lifting sanctions against other Dodik associates, which should be completed by the end of this month.
