After the end of the electoral process and the closing of the polling stations in the Republic of North Macedonia, the Albanian coalition VLEN has issued a press conference, where it has declared that it expects a clear victory in most municipalities with an Albanian majority, even in the first round of local elections. VLEN representatives emphasized that based on the first results from the field and the reports of the election commissions, they have a clear advantage in some of the main municipalities of the country.
"We expect victory in almost every municipality. We are optimistic that in some of the municipalities the race will be closed in the first round. This is believed to apply to the municipality of Chair, we are close to victory in the municipality of Tetovo in the first round, we also expect the same in the municipality of Saraj, in the municipalities of Bogovinë, Želina and Tearce. We are in the process of collecting information," declared the spokesperson of the VALEN coalition during the conference.
According to sources from the election headquarters, the preliminary results show a significant lead for the VLEN candidates in the mentioned municipalities, signaling a consolidation of support for the Albanian coalition that is part of the current Government in Skopje. In several cities, especially in Čair and Tetovo, VLEN supporters have already started celebrating, with fireworks and cheering in the streets after the publication of the first unofficial results. The festive atmosphere was observed near the local headquarters of the coalition's constituent parties, while other official data is expected to be published by the State Election Commission during the night.
The VLEN coalition, which represents a union of Albanian parties participating in the Government, has described this result as "a victory of civic will" and "evidence of Albanians' support for change, reform and dignified representation in the country's institutions."
