The Supreme Court of Kosovo has confirmed the life imprisonment sentence for Dardan Krivaça, the perpetrator of the murder of Marigona Osmani on August 22, 2021.
Through a third-instance verdict, the Supreme Court rejected the defense's request and left the previous decisions in force, sealing the conviction for the murder of Marigona Osmani.
The court found that "the murder was committed in a cruel manner, where the victim experienced terrible physical pain as a result of blows with a hard instrument."
The judicial panel also reviewed the defense's claims regarding the retrial procedure, the defendant's psychiatric expertise, and the allegations of the influence of narcotic substances, finding that these claims were not supported by evidence that would call into question the legality of the lower court decisions.
"The report from the Institute of Forensic Psychiatry found that the accused did not suffer from any mental disorder of a psychotic nature and that he was capable of understanding his actions," the court said.
Marigona Osmani was raped and beaten for 48 hours with a charger and sticks before she died, by Dardan Krivaça and Arbër Sejdiu, convicted of her murder.
18-year-old Marigona Osmani was murdered by her partner Dardan Krivaqa, in the apartment where they lived together in the city of Ferizaj, on August 22, 2021.
