On September 5, 2025, the premiere of the film “In the Darkness of the Sun – Kosovo” will be shown in Turkish cinemas. After the premiere, the film will also be presented in Kosovo and other Balkan countries.
This Turkish production deals with one of the most serious and sensitive events of recent years in Kosovo – the terrorist attack in Banjska, carried out by Serbian paramilitary groups in September 2023.
The film is a sequel to “Hidden Faces – Bosnia,” which told the story of the hiding of war criminals in Bosnia and Herzegovina. This time, the narrative shifts to Kosovo, focusing on efforts to avert a major conflict in the Balkans after the attack in Banjska.
Directed by Haktan Özkan and produced by Çiçek Yapım, the film reflects the strategic cooperation between Kosovo and Turkey in the face of security threats. The main roles are played by actors Gökhan Tunalıgil (originally from Kosovo), Ayhan Krüezi and Ebru Taşçı, along with well-known names such as Ümit Acar, Müge Ulusoy, Bora Sivri, Ali Düşenkalkar, Ayhan Işık and Kosovar artist Sonay Buş.
Filming took place in Prizren, Prishtina, Mamusha and Bursa.
