The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, announced today that in accordance with the Constitution, she has appointed Albin Kurti as the Prime Minister-designate for the formation of the new Government of the Republic of Kosovo. Osmani wished Kurti success in leading the new government and working in the service of the citizens of Kosovo.
"Today, in accordance with the Constitution of Kosovo, I have appointed Prime Minister Albin Kurti, prime minister-designate, to form the Government of the Republic of Kosovo.
I wish you success in leading the new Government and working in service to the citizens of the Republic of Kosovo.
Good luck, priests!” - writes Osmani.
This mandate comes after the Kosovo Assembly was constituted with 118 deputies present. The session was chaired by Avni Dehari and Fatma Tuci. The deputies took the oath and signed the relevant declarations.
Albulena Haxhiu was elected Speaker of the Assembly with 66 votes in favor, 44 against and 8 abstentions. LDK, PDK and Serbian List voted against, while AAK abstained. In her speech, she emphasized the need for cooperation and service to citizens.
Five vice-presidents were also elected from LVV, PDK, LDK, Serbian List and the Multiethnic Group, confirmed with 104 votes in favor. LDK stated that it does not support candidates without prior political agreement.
