Citizens held their 62nd protest in front of the Prime Minister's Office building, reiterating their demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Edi Rama and the removal of the government.
The rally began at Skanderbeg Square, from where protesters marched towards the Prime Minister's Office. During the protest, speeches were given by activists, who raised concerns about social and economic issues and proposed changes in the territorial reform.
Activist Edison Lika called on residents of municipalities that may be affected by the territorial reorganization to hold protests in their cities and then join the protest in Tirana. According to him, the government, having neglected small cities, now aims to merge them through the new reform.
Activist Arvina Lleshi also spoke at the protest podium, stating that citizens have several reasons to protest, focusing on the demand for Prime Minister Rama's resignation.
She stated that the protesters have 10 reasons to raise their voices, citing social and economic issues, such as the difficulties of families in registering children in kindergartens, low pensions and treatment of the elderly, as well as the lack of medicines in hospitals.
During the protest, there was no shortage of calls, slogans and banners held by the participants. Also, a few minutes before the start of the march and at the end of the speeches, the symbolic nightly message of the protest was displayed on the plaques of the main boulevard. The message of this evening addressed to Prime Minister Edi Rama and the citizens was: "With the Municipalities".
After finishing their speeches in front of the Prime Minister's Office, the protesters continued their march through some of Tirana's main streets. Organizers announced that the protests will continue in the coming days, with the aim of exerting pressure for the government to resign.
