The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has reacted to the situation of the fires that have engulfed the country, accusing the government of abandoning citizens and a complete lack of reaction. He said that hundreds of hectares of forests and houses have been burned, while people have lost their lives or been injured.
Berisha accused the government of using trucks to seize media equipment instead of using the army for evacuations, referring to the closure of News24.
Berisha described the situation as a national emergency, areas like Delvina, Fushë-Arrëzi and Gramshi, where the situation is out of control. Listing a series of government expenditures such as 21 million euros for charter flights, 7 million for the “Giro d'Italia” and 50 million euros for the Llogara tunnel, the DP leader accused Prime Minister Rama and Minister Balluku of corruption. He stressed that with these funds, Albania could have modern firefighting equipment and a “Canadair” aircraft to deal with emergencies like this.
