Since the end of the elections, Prime Minister Edi Rama has become very active in the media with actions to demolish illegal constructions and free up public spaces. But what is striking is the excessive protagonism and long delay that has characterized these interventions, which often seem not only delayed, but also ugly in their forms.
More worrying is the lack of trust in citizens, who during Rama's three terms in office were allowed to build as they wished, while only in the fourth term were they faced with the destruction of the investments they had made with their savings.
This situation is a consequence of the state's negligence, turning a blind eye and failing to prevent illegal construction in a timely manner. In this context, the Prime Minister should not boast about these actions, but rather apologize for the failure of his government in previous years.
Instead, he promotes videos of destruction on social media and uses language that is more like “nachu” warnings. Just look at his Facebook page and you will see that in recent months it has been filled with images of the destruction of objects, as an attempt to set an example.
But the bad images and the way these actions are presented do nothing but reflect the responsibility and failures of his government throughout all these years, giving a not very attractive image for the Albania that he is trying to promote.
Instead of focusing on the rule of law, the prime minister should have a more fair and comprehensive approach, starting from the timely prevention of illegalities.
