Prime Minister Edi Rama and the European Union Ambassador to Tirana, Silvio Gonzato, held a joint press conference today, following the publication of the European Commission's report on Enlargement.
In his speech, the EU representative also focused on the May 11 election process, emphasizing that according to the report, the elections were competitive, but were accompanied by abuses of public resources that contributed to the inequality of the competition.
"Regarding the elections, the report says that the elections were competitive, but that public resources were abused, which led to a lack of equality in the competition. Let me welcome the creation of the electoral reform. The creation of this commission will lead to a new electoral reform. Positive results have been achieved in the justice reform," Gonzato said.
He stressed that the EU will continue to support Albania on the path of European integration, while underlining that progress will depend on the implementation of reforms and the guarantee of fair and inclusive elections.
