Prime Minister Edi Rama, in a statement to the media after the joint conference with EU Commissioner Marta Kos, focused on the decision to suspend Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Infrastructure, Belinda Balluku.
Rama said that the government will seek protection of its functioning only through justice institutions, including the Constitutional Court.
"This is us. This is me. And this is how it will be until the end, when I have the privilege of leading Albania towards EU membership. We will preserve the independence of the judiciary and respect the decision to suspend the minister and seek protection of the compromised functioning of the government only from justice, from the Constitutional Court."
Rama stressed that the majority will not engage in any political or rhetorical battle with the justice bodies, underlining that their decision will be fully respected.
"Protecting the new and not temporary independence is our absolute priority," Rama said.
