The Association of Prosecutors of the Republic of Albania was established, after a long consultation process among prosecutors from all prosecutorial offices in the country.
This association was established in accordance with the law "On the status of judges and prosecutors in the Republic of Albania" and will function as a professional, non-profit and independent organization.
The Prosecutors' Association of the Republic of Albania is the first organization of this kind to be established after the adoption and implementation of the Justice Reform, operating within the new constitutional and legal framework for the prosecutorial system.
"It aims to provide a stable and organized structure, which will serve as a reference point for important developments, problems and issues related to the status and function of prosecutors in the Republic of Albania. As the justice system constantly faces various challenges, a more active and organized approach is considered necessary, including by the body of prosecutors themselves. The main mission of the Prosecutors' Association is to guarantee and protect the status, independence and integrity of prosecutors, as well as to promote their values and role in a democratic society and a state governed by law. The Prosecutors' Association will be actively engaged in law-making and decision-making processes that affect the justice system, through providing professional contributions and maintaining, as appropriate, institutional and public positions. Special importance will be given to promoting dialogue and constructive cooperation with state institutions, civil society, the media and other actors," the Association's press release states.
The Association is composed of prosecutors from all prosecutorial offices in the country, who will be actively engaged in their respective fields. In the first mandate, prosecutor Gëzim Spahiu was elected president of the Association.
