MP Erion Braçe has reacted to recent hints of a possible candidacy for the leadership of Tirana, emphasizing that the decision to enter the race did not come from Edi Rama nor as part of any internal scenario in the Socialist Party of Albania.
In a lengthy reaction on social media, Braçe categorically denies that he has discussed his candidacy with Rama, emphasizing that this is a personal choice and a response to the requests that, according to him, he has received from citizens and socialists in Tirana.
The MP also emphasizes that his candidacy is not related to any political maneuver to remove Ogerta Manastirliu from the race, adding that if it were an "honor or political favor," he would refuse it.
However, Braçe has not spared criticism of the way the capital is being run, stating that Tirana "has not been self-governing nor being governed for a year," while the city, according to him, is in "free fall" in several aspects, especially in services and order.
At the end of the reaction, he emphasizes that his goal is to "return the city's work to its head," presenting himself as Tirana's potential "master builder" - a title that in Albanian politics usually implies that the race has just begun, but no one yet knows who has given the start.
