The Albanian Parliament has officially opened the procedures for replacing the heads of two key institutions of the justice system, the High Judicial Council (HJC) and the High Prosecutorial Council (HPC).
The move comes after the end of the constitutional mandate of the current leaders:
Mirela Bogdani – Chairwoman of the KLP.
Ilir Rusi – Chairwoman of the KLGJ.
Yllka Rupa – Deputy Chairwoman of the KLGJ.
Like their predecessors, the new members will be selected from among the teaching staff of the faculties of law and the School of Magistracy. This process aims to fill the quotas of "non-magistrate members" in these councils, guaranteeing the representation of the academic world in the decision-making of the system.
Candidates must come from among the teaching staff with outstanding experience, not having held political positions in recent years.
