Rumored as a candidate for the Municipality of Tirana, Ermal Hasimja, exclusively for Euronews Albania, announced that he is presenting his candidacy for mayor of Tirana.
He addressed Sali Berisha directly during the interview, publicly announcing that he agrees to run according to the criteria that the leader of the Democratic Party (DP) set out this Saturday.
Hasimja emphasized that he seeks the support of Berisha and the opposition parties, presenting his name as an independent and unifying candidate for the opposition.
"It seems to me that the logical position is for a united opposition to come up with an independent candidate, who will be supported by a large majority of opposition parties. Berisha has asked that other candidates also express their wishes and ambitions. Given this opportunity, I am addressing Mr. Berisha and the leadership of the DP, as well as other opposition forces, by publicly presenting my candidacy for the head of the Municipality of Tirana, with the same criteria that he has defined: independent candidate, without a specific party logo, supported by the majority of the opposition. Therefore, Mr. Berisha can consider my candidacy submitted and consider it."
