A British woman, reported by the media as originally from Kosovo, was present during her husband's execution in the US, bursting into tears and calling out "I love you" in his final moments.
James Broadnax, 37, was executed by lethal injection in a Texas prison after being found guilty of murdering two Christian music producers in Dallas in 2008.
According to American media reports, including the Dallas Morning News, his wife, Tiana Krasniqi, 31, watched the execution from the witness box, shouting "I love you" as she watched the final moments from behind the glass of the execution chamber.
After the incident, Krasniqi reacted harshly on social media, accusing the US authorities of the manner of the execution. In a TikTok post, she wrote: “They killed my husband,” while claiming that the process was painful and difficult for Broadnax. According to her, he “suffered a lot from the lethal injection,” citing signs of blood and bruises, while asking: “Is this justice?”
Just days before the execution, the couple was married inside the Allan B. Polunsky Unit in Texas. According to media reports, they met in 2024 through correspondence, while Krasniqi, a law graduate and student of International Human Rights in London, had begun research on racial disparities in the American justice system.
Broadnax was convicted of the murders of Stephen Swan and Matthew Butler. However, a cousin later claimed to have committed the crime himself, but this statement was not considered sufficient by the authorities to stop the execution.
The case has brought back into focus debates on the death penalty in the US and its implementation, an issue that continues to provoke strong reactions in both public opinion and the international media.
