Democratic Party MP Belind Këlliçi stated on "A2 Weekend" with Suela Demir on A2 CNN that the opposition is all out to seek votes for Florjan Binaj in the mayoral race in Tirana, but without interfering in his program.
According to Këlliç, the DP's calculations are positive and predict a possible victory in Tirana for Binaj, who he said "fully summarizes the interests of the entire opposition."
Now to clarify for the citizen who follows us, first of all, Florjan Binaj is an independent candidate but enjoys the support of all opposition political forces, led by the Democratic Party as the largest opposition force in the country. Meanwhile, Mr. Binaj is in his electoral campaign and continues mainly because he has just started the media messages, messages on social networks and others... The Democratic Party yesterday closed in Tirana the preliminary meeting for the organization of elections in all branches of Tirana.
So, in some of the meetings there was Mr. Noka as the Secretary General of the Democratic Party and MP in the Tirana region. In some of them I was there, in some there was Mr. Xhaferri as MP for Tirana, Mr. Balliu as MP for Tirana, Mrs. Tabaku as MP for Tirana and Mr. Alimehmeti as a very strong political figure in Tirana who unfortunately, even though he received 18,000 votes, did not manage to get a mandate as MP, but he leads the group of advisors in the municipal council and we have all been in the field. So we know our organizational issue very well. We are a party", declared Këlliçi.
The Democratic MP further added that Binaj has his own communication strategy and headquarters, while the opposition forces, led by the DP, will guarantee him political support, placing emphasis on commissioners and counters.
"He has his own campaign and his own strategy, which I don't know, and I follow it from the media. He has his own communication strategy. If he is declared mayor of Tirana, he will make decisions as he wants, as he thinks, as an independent person. So he will have no connection with the Democratic Party or Mr. Berisha. Suffice it to mention the fact that Mr. Binaj today in his campaign is a completely independent individual. He has his own team, he has his own headquarters, he has his own media strategy, he has his own political strategy and he is completely unaffected by the political interest of either the Democratic Party, the Opportunity party or another party. But of course Mr. Binaj is the best representative of all opposition forces in the face of a candidacy like Ogerta Manastirliu who comes from the government.
We ask for votes for Mr. Binaj because we think that in an incomparable way he is a much higher, more qualitative candidacy and that he would provide solutions to the problems of the city of Tirana and without question at the end of the day the entire logistical aspect, so when it comes to election day, to the commissioners, to the observers, to guaranteeing the functioning of the electoral process, will without question be guaranteed by the Democratic Party because we are the force that has the opportunity to guarantee that process. So without leaving aside for a second neither the Opportunity Party, nor the Initiative Party or Albania Becomes, nor any other political force, nor the Freedom Party and the Republican Party", Këlliçi underlined.
