The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, has admitted the mistake regarding the signatures given for the candidacy of Endri Shabani as People's Advocate, publicly apologizing to the democrats and Albanian citizens. From the podium in Elbasan, Berisha said that the signatures were given in another political context and then withdrawn, but according to him, the majority used them to impose an illegal election.
"We also make mistakes. The mistake was a lot. I apologize to the Democrats and all Albanians for those signatures that were placed against Shabani, Edi Rama's lawyer. Those signatures were withdrawn, everyone who signed withdrew their signature, but Edi Rama, unscrupulously, chose him," Berisha declared.
He accused the Prime Minister of acting contrary to the Constitution and democratic standards, while adding that the political response will come immediately. According to Berisha, the Democratic Party will convene its Presidency tomorrow to make urgent decisions.
From Elbasan, Berisha warned of the start of unstoppable protests against the government. "Tomorrow at lunch, the Presidency will meet and urgently decide on the start of revolts, protests that will never stop until Edi Rama leaves," he said.
In his speech, Berisha accused the government of serious financial abuses and interference in justice, also referring to the decision to lift the suspension measure against Belinda Balluku. "Today Rama dictated to the court and lifted the suspension measure. What will we do? We will stand up and we will not stop until they leave," said Berisha.
According to him, the opposition is facing a decisive battle: "Either we will vote freely, or we will disappear. We will never disappear, but we will win."
