The leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, seems to no longer trust the candidacy for the Municipality of Tirana to actor Florian Binaj. During a conversation he had with his followers on social networks, the leader of the democrat was asked if the Democratic Party has selected the candidate for the Municipality of Tirana.
Instead of reconfirming Florian Binaj, whom he supported a few months ago in the by-elections that were canceled in Tirana, Berisha said he would offer the citizens a candidate after discussions.
"The Democratic Party, without a doubt, will offer the citizens of Tirana, and when it opens discussions in a transparent manner, the most excellent candidacy. It will do everything to unite the entire opposition in a broader front and to return the capital to the citizens," said Berisha.
Clearly, the DP chairman no longer seems to accept the figure of actor Florian Binaj to support him in the 2027 elections, despite the latter having expressed his desire to run.
Florian Binaj announced his candidacy as an independent for the Municipality of Tirana in the partial elections to be held in October 2025. He was initially supported by the Democratic Party and then by other opposition forces. After the annulment of the elections by the Constitutional Court, he had expressed his desire to run again in the 2027 elections, a desire which seems not to have the consensus of the largest opposition party this time.
