One year after the 2025 general elections, the leader of the Democratic Party, Sali Berisha, intends to run again for the party leadership in the process expected to take place on May 23, while the internal analysis of the electoral defeat has not yet been completed.
Asked whether the DP has closed its analysis of the election results, Berisha said that the party is still in the process of discussion in its branches.
According to him, the document summarizing allegations of electoral violations by the Socialist Party is a voluminous material with thousands of pages.
"First of all, that book with thousands of pages is a historic contribution to the defense of the Albanian vote. It has become a fundamental treatise on the tables of all those who believe in the free vote," Berisha said.
Regarding the internal analysis in the DP, he said that the process is taking place in the party's branches and that in some of them it is still ongoing.
"The analysis of the DP is being carried out in all branches. In some of them it is in an ongoing process, but everything is being developed in accordance with the regulation and statute. What is important is that in this party, branch chairs are being voted on and elected with the free will of the DP members," he said.
Berisha added that the voting process in the party branches is taking place according to a set schedule and that the internal analysis will be completed in the future.
The statement comes at a time when, despite the passage of a year since the elections, the Democratic Party has not yet presented a complete analysis of the electoral defeat, while the process for electing the party's leader is about to begin.
