The Chairman of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, has accused Prime Minister Edi Rama of defending senior officials involved in investigations by SPAK, describing him as a "guarantor of corruption".
In a Facebook post, Bardhi referred to two cases that he said were linked to corruption investigations, mentioning Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku and the head of the Albanian Anti-Corruption Commission, Mirlinda Karçanaj. According to him, in both cases, their political protection by the Prime Minister is linked to, as he claims, connections that "lead to the Rama family."
"The two cases have one thing in common: they lead to the Rama family. One to Edi Rama himself, the other to his wife," Bardhi declared, adding that the protection against them is not accidental.
He has also mentioned allegations of public tenders and possible connections with people close to the government, claiming that the prime minister was aware of developments related to the AKSHI and its procedures.
Bardhi also reacted to the prime minister's previous statements about the head of the AKSHI, saying that recent developments, including the seizure of her assets by SPAK, according to him, make a public reaction from the head of government necessary.
"Edi Rama has the obligation to publicly apologize and give an account to the Albanians," he said.
Bardhi's statements were also accompanied by a video from a previous public appearance by Prime Minister Rama regarding the issue in question.
