The head of the DP Parliamentary Group, Gazment Bardhi, reacted harshly to the EU Enlargement Commissioner, Marta Kos, after her statements about the suspension of Deputy Prime Minister Belinda Balluku from office and her being taken into custody by SPAK. In a statement from the blue headquarters, Bardhi openly challenged the commissioner to bring a single similar corruption case in Europe, accusing her of speaking as a "spokeswoman for a corrupt government of Edi Rama."
He also commented on the Commissioner's stance on the OSCE report on the May 11 elections, describing her statement as more extreme than the Prime Minister's own rhetoric.
"I challenge the Enlargement Commissioner and every EU official to find a prime minister who, before announcing a €200 million tender, goes with the deputy prime minister to meet the company, and then opens the tender and gives it to that company. If Commissioner Kos finds such a case, we accept it. But Europe does not have such cases," said Bardhi.
He called on Commissioner Kos to speak about European standards and not to cover up, according to him, the corruption of the Rama government. Regarding her comments on the OSCE report, Bardhi added: "Edi Rama did not say this either. With that statement, even Rama himself would be ashamed. No OSCE Commissioner has articulated such a thing."
