Fatos Nano was the prime minister of a corrupt government. His rule brought Albania much less than it needed in terms of development and integration. He laid the foundations of the clientelistic system that Rama perfected.
Nano had no coherent national policy, nor was he a patriot: he could meet Milosevic when he was a pariah and then help the KLA when it began to be respected by the international community.
From a historical perspective, he may be better than Ramiz Alia or Edi Rama and may have brought a more liberal spirit to the SP, but he was certainly not a good prime minister for Albania.
Condolences to the family and the SP, but the day of mourning is all theirs.
