
Tirana Police have conducted the operation codenamed "Picalla", during which a suspected weapons base was discovered that allegedly served to supply criminal groups.
During a search of a residence in the village of Picallë, 9 firearms (5 automatics, 1 rifle and 3 pistols), a shotgun, a silencer, combat ammunition, as well as uniforms and equipment similar to those of the Police were seized.
In total, around 900 cartridges were found, as well as explosive materials, including fuses and detonating caps.
In connection with the case, citizen Mejte Hoxha, 66 years old, was arrested in flagrante delicto, while citizen Oltjan Qershori, 41 years old, suspected of being the owner of the base, was declared wanted.
According to official data, the premises are suspected of being used to supply criminal groups with weapons and ammunition. The seized materials will be subjected to expert examination at the Institute of Scientific Police to verify whether they were used in other criminal events.
Investigations are ongoing to capture the wanted person and to fully clarify the circumstances of the case.
