Endri Ngresi, former official of the Fier Cadastre, has been returned to prison to serve the remainder of his 3-year sentence, following a decision by the Special Court of Appeal. Ngresi was sentenced in July 2024 by the High Court to 3 years in prison for the criminal offense of “Passive corruption of persons exercising public functions”.
After serving part of his sentence, he had requested conditional release, which was accepted by the competent court. But the Special Prosecution Office against Corruption and Organized Crime (SPAK) appealed the decision, requesting his return to prison. The Special Court of Appeal decided to accept the appeal and Ngresi was returned to prison to complete his sentence.
Two other citizens were also involved in the same process, accused of giving a bribe of 2 thousand euros for a housing legalization. Ardjan Kumaraku was sentenced to 1 year in prison, while Afërdita Vidhi was not sentenced.
In addition to the prison sentence, former official Ngresi was fined and banned from any public function for the next 5 years.
