A detainee was transferred in serious condition to the QSUT where he died. Medat Spahiu is accused of attempted murder within the family.
"Around 14:10, on 03.04.2026, the detainee Medat Spahiu passed away in the Central Resuscitation Room at the QSUT, as a result of a dexter pulmonary embolism. The detainee Medat Spahiu, born on 10.04.1935, resident of Xhafzotaj, Durrës, was arrested on 14.03.2026 for the criminal offense of "Murder due to family relations, attempted".
On 17.03.2026, he entered the Durrës Penitentiary Institution from the Durrës Police Station, but was kept under guard in the premises of the Durrës Regional Hospital, where he was hospitalized.
On 19.03.2026, he was transferred to the "Shefqet Ndroqi" Hospital in Tirana, to the pneumology ward, for specialized treatment.
On 31.03.2026, he was discharged from "Shefqet Ndroqi" Hospital and admitted to QSUNT.
"At 22:34 on 02.04.2026, he was urgently admitted to the Central Resuscitation Room, where he was diagnosed with dexter pulmonary embolism, arterial hypertension, diabetes mellitus, post-stroke condition and sinister subtrochanteric fracture," the DPB announced.
