
A serious family incident was prevented in Himara, where a 35-year-old man, in a serious psychological state, held his parents, aged 60 and 65, hostage, threatening them with a knife.
Immediately after the report, police forces arrived at the scene and began negotiations with the perpetrator. After more than an hour of intense efforts, a local officer managed to communicate directly with him, reducing the tension.
During the intervention, the 35-year-old attempted to harm himself with the cutting tool, sustaining wounds to the abdominal area. The police intervened immediately, neutralizing the perpetrator and rescuing the parents without injury.
After the incident, the young man was initially taken to the Himara Police Station and then to Vlora, where he received medical assistance and was referred for treatment to psychiatric services.
