The Special Court has left in force the security measure of "prison arrest" for Kristi and Aleksandër Bushgjokaj, suspects in the kidnapping and murder of 22-year-old Renis Dobra, an event that occurred on July 8 in Burrel.
According to the investigation, the victim was strangled with a rope after a conflict over drug deals with four people, Petrit Çakërri and the three Bushgjokaj brothers, Kristi, Aleksandër and Fatjon. Two of the suspects, Petrit Çakërri and Fatjon Bushgjokaj, did not appear at today's court session. Their lawyer claimed that the legal deadlines have been exceeded after the case was transferred to the Special Court.
The incident came to light after Renis' father reported his son missing to the police. After several hours of searching, the 23-year-old's body (the age quoted differs from initial reports) was found near Shkopet Lake, in the village of Madhesh in Mat. Police said Dobra had been kidnapped and then strangled with a rope.
The perpetrators attempted to dispose of the body and the car by throwing them into the lake, but the victim's body did not end up in the water, while the vehicle was found in Lake Ulza.
