The ship carrying Albanian citizen Baki Goxhaj, part of the Global Sumud Flotilla humanitarian flotilla, has reportedly been detained by Israeli forces, and there has been no communication with him or the other members on board for nearly two hours.
According to information so far, the lack of contact has raised concerns about the Albanian activist's safety, while there has not yet been an official reaction from the Albanian authorities regarding the situation.
The flotilla, consisting of 54 ships and around 426 international activists, set off on Thursday from the Marmaris area of Turkey, with the aim of breaking the naval blockade of the Gaza Strip, which has been in place since 2007.
The flotilla organizers have reported that contact has been lost with several vessels, while they speak of intervention by Israeli naval forces during the convoy's movement at sea.
In this situation, the Ministry for Europe and Foreign Affairs of Albania, as well as diplomatic missions, have been called upon to follow developments in real time and take steps to guarantee the security, physical integrity and legal rights of Albanian citizens.
Until now, the situation remains unclear, while official confirmation is awaited from the relevant authorities regarding the fate of the ship and the members on board.
