The joy of the reduction in oil and gasoline prices lasted only one day. At dawn today, the Transparency Board met again and decided to increase the price of oil by 15 lek and gasoline by 6 lek for the retail market, showing that price reductions sometimes last less than a day.
From 203 lek, the price of diesel went to 218 lek per liter, while gasoline from 175 lek reached 181 lek per liter. Wholesale prices have also increased: diesel 206 lek and gasoline 169 lek, while gas remained unchanged, providing some respite from other fluctuations.
The government trumpets the Transparency Boards as a measure to control price increases. But, according to previous experiences, this Board serves more to dictate prices in the media, where one day it goes down, the next day it goes up, without even giving the fuel employee time to get on the ladder and come down to change the table.
