
A control operation has been conducted in Peqin Prison, as part of increased measures to prevent and crack down on prohibited items inside prisons.
The surprise check was carried out by the institution's Police structures, following information raising suspicions of illegal possession of items in building B, sector no. 2, room 11, on the first floor of the prison.
During the checks, it was found that the convict Indrit Shaqja was illegally in possession of a working mobile phone, which was found turned on and charging at the time of the check.
Also, a USB device was found in the searched premises, which was seized as material evidence.
After discovering the case, the institution's administration immediately notified the structures of the Prison Service, which initiated procedures to fully clarify the circumstances and manner of introducing prohibited items into the prison premises.
