Former Minister of Health Ilir Beqaj is requesting a replacement security measure in the Special Court. According to him, the measure of arrest with imprisonment should be lifted and a lighter security measure should be assigned. Beqaj has offered a property guarantee in the amount of 2 million lek. Judge Elsa Ulliri is expected to review it next week. Among other things, Beqaj has used as a new argument the unifying decision of the Supreme Court on security measures. Ilir Beqaj is accused of the sterilization affair and also of abuse of EU funds while he was leading the SASPAK agency.
