Igli Tare, one of the most famous former Albanian professional footballers and currently sports director of Serie A club AC Milan, is on the list of people who will provide explanations to SPAK, as part of the investigations being conducted against former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister of Infrastructure and Energy, Belinda Balluku, suspected of abuses with road tenders.
Trusted sources at the Special Prosecution Office confirm that a summons has been issued to the former Albanian national football player to appear and provide explanations in his capacity as a person who has knowledge of the circumstances of the incident.
The same sources indicate that the summons was returned unsigned, which means that Tare was not informed.
The investigative group is expected to issue a second summons, but it is still unclear whether it will be addressed to him in Italy, where he lives and works, or whether the notification will be carried out in other forms.
Tara's call comes after SPAK raids on Balluk's family members, trusted people, and various businessmen. Among other things, raids were also conducted on two villas in the south of the country.
Belinda Balluku is being investigated by SPAK for road tenders and security measures are currently in effect against her: a ban on leaving the country and a suspension from exercising her functions.
SPAK's request for permission to arrest Balluk was rejected in the Assembly by the socialist majority.
