Representatives of families affected by the TID project returned this morning to the Municipality of Durrës, demanding clarification and transparency on the continuation of the planned interventions in the area.
The reason for their reaction was the recent change in the restoration project of religious buildings, including a Catholic church, which were initially classified for demolition. This change has raised concerns among residents, who are seeking detailed information on the fate of their homes and the manner in which the project is being implemented.
With a request signed by 20 families, residents have addressed local authorities, emphasizing the need for transparency and warning that they will continue to oppose any decision that foresees the demolition of existing housing.
According to them, the current project is seen as an intervention that affects the historical structure of the area, replacing it with new multi-storey buildings. The residents' representatives have requested a meeting with the mayor of Durrës, but state that this time too they have not been received by the municipality's leaders.
They state that, according to their experience, it is easier to secure a meeting with international representatives than with local authorities, while emphasizing that they will continue to resist the announced demolitions.
On the other hand, at the last meeting of the Durrës Municipal Council, Deputy Mayor Gentian Kallmi stated that the TID project is still under review and that each case will be verified individually, both in terms of evaluation and the procedures followed.
