For nearly three hours, RENEA negotiators and the prosecutor tried to convince him to surrender. Inside the car where he was holding his ex-fiancée hostage, Refit alias Nertil Buzi did not talk about how he could escape, but about the life he believed had been destroyed along with the £730,000 he claimed had been lost. From time to time, he asked for time to think, asked if he would get his money back and how many years in prison he would serve. When he learned that his ex-father-in-law had passed away, he released his daughter and a few moments later ended his life.
Trusted sources have revealed to VNA details of the negotiations that the police conducted with the perpetrator of the massacre in the village of Vidhisht, Roskovec, where he killed his ex-father-in-law and ex-mother-in-law, Kosta and Belere Plaka, and ultimately committed suicide after releasing his ex-fiancée Rozalina Plaka, whom he held hostage for several hours.
According to the same sources, Buzi justified the crime by claiming that his ex-fiancée's parents owed him 730,000 pounds, money that, according to him, he had obtained from bars in Great Britain, where he had also been held hostage and raped.
"My life is no longer worth it. I can't get the money back, I don't want to go to prison," he is said to have told prosecutor Kristi Jorgji, who negotiated for nearly three hours with the 35-year-old.
Throughout the conversation he kept returning to the same question.
"Do I get that money because I would build my life with it?" he asked.
To keep him in touch and convince him to surrender, RENEA's negotiator and the prosecutor explained to him that his claims would be investigated and, if it turned out that the money had been invested in assets, they would be frozen and sold to be returned to him.
However, his concern was not limited to money.
"How many years am I sentenced to? I don't want to go to prison. I've been there, I know how hard it is," he asked.
Negotiators have tried to explain to him that if he surrendered without causing other consequences, this would also be taken into account in terms of the sentence.
"We were scared for how long he had the girl in the car hostage. Apparently he wanted to be convinced if his ex-fiancée was involved in the money issue," said a source.
According to the same person, throughout the negotiations, Buzi occasionally asked for time to think.
The decisive moment, according to sources, came after he released Rozalina Plaka and, apparently, learned that his ex-father-in-law had passed away.
Moments later, he committed suicide.
"It was impossible to stop him. We did our best and used every technique," the source said.
During the negotiations he kept repeating the same sentence:
"My life is over. My life is over."
Although the perpetrator of the massacre committed suicide, the Prosecutor's Office is investigating his claims for the 730,000 pounds.
Rozalina Plaka, a student, has given preliminary testimony, but is expected to be questioned again, as in the first moments after the event she was in a serious psychological state.
